SmartLIFE Homes | Expression of Interest

The Hive seeks partners for demonstrating sustainable living.

The Hive is a partnership between Cambridge Regional College, Cambridgeshire County Council and Future Business who are enthusiastic to develop the SmartLIFE™ Homes and consider how the site can accommodate a range of sustainable homes for demonstration purposes. Therefore a management agency is being sought to develop and manage the SmartLIFE Homes at the Hive education and enterprise park.

An information event for interested parties is to held at the SmartLIFE Centre, Cambridge on Monday 21 March 2011 between 16:30-18:00. Click here to register your interest and we will get in touch.

More information will be provided via a brief once organisations have registered an expression of interest. We would welcome any options put forward that may best deliver the objectives outlined in this brief.

The aim of the partnership is to create a business park whose overarching focus will be on business that's good for society and the environment.

The SmartLIFE Homes on the Hive have the following objectives:

1. to demonstrate technologies, products and installation (in collaboration with SmartLIFE) in situ to contractors, technicians and built environment professionals
2. to demonstrate to the public the available options for reducing their energy and water consumption and how consumer choices of new buildings and the application of retrofitted products and services can assist
3. to support the growth of low carbon economic development and enterprise
4. to add value to the education and training experience for students and industry alike.
